Vincent Philip Rex, aged 93, of Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, passed away peacefully due to natural causes on May 18, 2026. Born on January 30, 1933, in the Bronx, New York, Vincent was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and a dedicated member of his community. He is survived by his beloved spouse, Ida Rex, his sons Ron and Richard Rex, daughter-in-law Christine Rex, granddaughter Chelsea Rex and grandson Travis Rex.

Vincent's early education was rooted in the esteemed halls of Salesian High School, a private all-boys Catholic institution in New Rochelle, New York, where he excelled academically as one of the top students in his class. Following his education, he proudly served in the United States Army, stationed in France and Germany. An avid sports enthusiast, he enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, and softball during his time in service, though he ultimately did not see action in Korea due to the war's end.

For over five decades, Vincent called Oakland, New Jersey, his home, where he devoted himself not only to his family but also to the advancement of his community. His contributions were significant; he served on various committees, including the Oakland Recreation Committee and Commission, and the Oakland Fathers Club. As a passionate supporter of youth sports, he held roles as the Oakland Recreation Baseball Commissioner, coach for both recreation and travel baseball, and football coach. His dedication to the community was recognized when he was inducted into the Oakland Recreation Hall of Fame.

Funeral services will be held on May 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM during a Funeral Liturgy at Immaculate Conception Church in Mahwah. Prior to this, visitation will take place at Oakland Memorial Home on May 27, 2026, from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM. Vincent will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to family, faith, and community. The family asks in lieu of flowers to donate to Veterans Affairs.

Vincent was preceded in death by: parents Phillip and Antoinette Rex and son Kevin Phillip Rex.
