Obituary

It is with deep sadness and sorrow that we mourn the passing of Timothy A. Tedesco, 74, of Oakland, NJ on Tuesday, November 23, 2021. After winning his battle with cancer this past year, Tim succumbed suddenly to numerous complications brought on by ALS. Tim was born in Brooklyn, New York to Thomas and Mary Tedesco. He grew up in Demarest and Westwood, NJ with his brother Tom. Tim attended Northern Valley Regional High School in Demarest and Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan. He was a graduate of Moravian College and earned a M.Ed. from William Paterson College. Tim worked in the Mahwah Public Schools as an elementary teacher for 34 years and received the Governor's Award for Outstanding Teacher. In his free time, Tim enjoyed numerous hobbies from bird watching and hunting to berry picking and fishing with his grandchildren at his summer residence in Pennsylvania. During the winter months, he and his wife, Janet, also ran a Christmas tree farm which he tended to throughout the year. He could often be found painting landscapes and the portraits of those he loved. Creating model train layouts was another favorite pastime. Tim is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Janet Tedesco, his daughter Rebecca Van Ry (Daryl), of Morris Plains, NJ, his daughter Christina M. Tedesco of Somerville, MA, and his son Roger Tedesco (Martha) of New York, NY. Tim was the beloved "Papa" to his granddaughters Ashlyn, Kiersten, Abigail, and Lillian. He is also survived by his brother Tom Tedesco (Jenny) of Westwood, NJ, and his nephews Tommy and Johnny.
