Therese (Terry) Grohs, née McGuire, passed away peacefully at her home in Oakland, NJ on April 28, 2024, at the age of 95.

A 68-year resident of the town, she worked as the school secretary at Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish, and at the Franklin Lakes Racquet Club in Franklin Lakes. She attended nursing school and attained her long-time goal of becoming a Licensed Practice Nurse at the age of 50. She worked at Bergen Pines Hospital and The Cupola nursing home until her retirement. She participated in the local team tennis league for years and was an active member of the Oakland Senior Center. Before the Covid pandemic, she was a member of St. Mary's parish in Pompton Lakes.

She was predeceased by her husband, Donald J. Grohs, and her son, Donald J. Grohs Jr. She is survived by her daughters Mary Jane Karp of Montclair; Dolores Amesbury and Therese Hurter of Cape May Court House; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. Memorial donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity and New Jersey Audubon Society.
