Theresa A. Burgio, 87, of Waldwick, NJ passed away on May 21, 2023, in The Colony, Texas.
Theresa was born on December 16, 1935, to Leonardo and Angelina Dima in Brooklyn, NY. Theresa's first job was a switchboard operator in Manhattan before marrying the love of her life, Carmelo Burgio on September 11, 1955. Theresa and Carmelo moved to Waldwick, NJ where they built a home and raised their 3 children, living happily together for 62 years.
Theresa was a devoted parishioner of St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church for 60 years. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered her time to the Sisters of Charity. She went on multiple pilgrimage trips to Italy, Poland, and Russia. She also journeyed to Alaska where she was in awe of the majestic beauty and vastness of the landscape.
Her greatest passions in life were cooking and spending time with her family, which filled her heart with endless joy. Theresa loved to entertain and welcomed everyone into her home with open arms, warmth, and love.
Theresa is predeceased by her husband, Carmelo. She is survived in death by brother, Joseph, and sister-in-law, Annie Dima who reside in Florida. She is also survived by her children, daughter Theresa and husband Robert Posner of The Colony, Texas, daughter Donna and husband Scott Gabey of Oakland,NJ, and son Edward and wife Victoria Burgio of Newton, NJ, as well as her grandchildren, John Ladolcetta and wife, Jackie of Mahwah, NJ, Dina Ladolcetta of Oakland, NJ, Steven and wife Rebecca Higgins of The Colony, TX, Angela Higgins and fiancé James Georges of Little Elm, Texas, Victoria and husband Quentin Christiano of Newton, NJ, and Dominic Burgio of Newton, NJ. Her great-grandchildren include Steven Higgins, Cayden Christiano, Jamie and Faith Georges, and newborn Rosalie Ladolcetta.
Theresa's family invites you to celebrate her life at Oakland Memorial Home on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, from 4pm – 8pm. Funeral mass will be held at 340 Franklin Turnpike in Ho-Ho-Kus at 10am on June 1, 2023, with Father James of St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow at St. Luke's Cemetery.
