Robert Edward Weigand, of Oakland, NJ, born on July 30, 1944, in Buffalo, NY, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026. A devoted family man, Robert is survived by his son Michael Robert Weigand, daughter Jennifer Ann Weigand, and his beloved grandchildren, Elizabeth Rose, Michael Robert Jr., Tyler Paul, Esther June Sanabria, and Robert West Sanabria, as well as his daughter-in-law Christine Marie Weigand and son-in-law Michael Joseph Sanabria. He also leaves behind his brother Richard J. Weigand.
Throughout his life, Robert was a dedicated purchasing agent for WCB Ice Cream and took immense pride in his work. He had a passion for reading, often found engrossed in the newspaper or his crime and suspense novels. An avid coin collector with a passion for tracking everyday details, he meticulously recorded snowfall totals, gasoline usage, and even daily mail intake. Robert enjoyed keeping his mind sharp with games like blackjack, blokus, and sudoku.
Robert cherished spending time with family and created countless memories through road trips and attending NASCAR races. He reveled in special moments, such as the birth of his children and grandchildren, walking his daughter down the aisle, and watching his son graduate from Marine Corps boot camp. He demonstrated his love for the community through generous donations to animal and veteran foundations, and he enjoyed leisurely visits to the casino. He took great pride in caring for his yard and cars and found joy in the companionship of his cat, Dallas.
Visitation will be held at Oakland Memorial Home on March 23, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. With a funeral service during the last hour. Robert's memory will live on through the lives he touched and the legacy of love he created for his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to a local animal shelter or veterans organization.
Robert was preceded in death by his father Paul Edward Weigand, his mother Rita F Weigand, and his brothers James P Weigand and William D Weigand.
