Richard H. Bowitz age 91 of Oakland died on February 19, 2022. Beloved husband of Frances (Pam) Bowitz (predeceased). Loving father of Gail Bowitz of Oakland and Kim and her husband Gregg Emanuel of Randolph, NJ. Dear brother of Robert P Bowitz (predeceased) and his wife Mary. Cherished grandfather affectionately called "PopPop" to Mathew and Michael Emanuel and Richard Lascar. Niece Linda and her husband Dana (Tex) Walker, Nephew Robert Bowitz and his wife Ann and many friends and neighbors who loved him. Richard was born July 2, 1930 in Hoboken NJ.the Son of Mary and Harry Bowitz who soon moved to Oakland where he spent his childhood and all the rest of his life. Richard served his beloved country and was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps. In 1959. He was a Honorary Founder of the Elks National Foundation, Charter and Life Member of the Oakland Elks Lodge #2167. Richard was retired from Ford New Car Carriers Co. and the Oakland school system. He enjoyed working in his garage on "do it yourself" project from ornate welding to woodworking. Richard greatest joy was the time spent with family. A memorial service will be held in the spring at Ponds Reform Church in Oakland. The family request in lieu of flowers a donation can be made in his memory to the American Cancer Society.
