Patrick J. Burns, 80, of Franklin Lakes, NJ, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025. Born on December 9, 1944, in Brooklyn, NY, Patrick lived a life marked by devotion to family, service to country, and a distinguished career.
Patrick proudly served in the United States Navy for four years before embarking on a remarkable 50-year journey on Wall Street. He and his beloved wife Eva Burns (née Gorman) shared 58 wonderful years together, building a life rooted in love, laughter, and resilience. They made their home in Oakland and later Franklin Lakes for over five decades.
A man of quiet strength and deep appreciation for nature, Patrick found joy in the shores of Long Beach Island and the peaceful trails of Cold Spring and Harriman State Park. His warmth and sense of humor touched all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Mary, and brothers Jack (Marge Norton) and Jimmy. He is survived by his devoted wife Eva; sons Patrick and Joseph (Rebecca) ; cherished grandchildren Daniel, Abigail, and Madison; sisters Virginia Seidel (Rich) and Noreen McCollough (Bruce); brothers Thomas (Susan) and Michael (Anna); and many loving in-laws and cousins who will remember him fondly.
A memorial service will be held at the Oakland Memorial Home on Wednesday, October 22, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a burial in Mahwah.
Patrick's legacy lives on in the hearts of those he loved and those who loved him. He will be deeply missed.
