Matthew Richard Magi 10/28/1992-10/16/2023 Matthew Richard Magi, better known as "MattMagi" age 30, of Oakland, New Jersey passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023. Matt was born October 28, 1992 in Guatemala and adopted by his parents Raymond and Valerie Magi. The moment Matt came home they had their hands full with a rambunctious little boy. As a child Matt was a naturally skilled soccer player, he loved to play the game with his favorite part being "juking" opponents and scoring goals by doing the Maradona ("Calderon") move. Matt grew up going to Metrostar games and enjoyed watching recorded Juventus games with his Dad at night. He grew up with three siblings, Dominic, Danielle, and Gabrielle. He was a proud Uncle to Lucas Butler and Godfather to Justin Butler. Matt had a lot of big dreams and interests such as going to Giants games with his Dad, clothes, shoes, hats, dancing, some good sushi, a nice Italian sandwich or basically any Italian dish with endless amounts of Parmesan, and of course Music. If you knew Matt you knew music was his #1 love (next to a fresh pair of Nikes). He loved life and all that it had to offer. His favorite day of the week was Wednesday because he would pick up Lucas from Pre-school and they would get McDonalds. Matt had this inate ability to make anyone he met laugh, he was witty with the one liners and loved joking around with his Mom. He had a special bond with everyone he met that could leave a lasting impression, his smile and laugh were infectious. He loved his friends and had a core crew who no matter what, they were there for each other. Matt could call you everyday or once a month and each time it would be like time never passed. Matthew was charismatic, kind, loving, sensitive, funny, loyal, the list could go on. The memory of Matt will never be forgotten and he is in our hearts forever. He is survived by his parents Raymond and Valerie Magi siblings Dominic Magi, Danielle & Andrew Butler, Gabrielle & Chase McCreary and nephews Lucas & Justin Butler. A celebration of life will be held at Oakland Memorial Home on October 28, 2023 from 12-4pm. This date is especially meaningful to the family as it is Matthew's 31st birthday and we will celebrate the life he lived.
