Obituary

Please share a memory of Marion to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Marion D. Gilmore entered into her eternal rest on Thursday, August 11, 2022. She was predeceased by her father William Abrams, mother Laura Abrams, sister Dorothy Snyer and loving and devoted husband, Walter with whom they shared sixty-four wonderful years together.

Marion was a loving mother to her daughter Debbie Hook and her husband Don, her son Scott Gilmore and his wife Lisa and her son Brad Gilmore and his wife Sonia. Marion had seven grandchildren, Heidi Hook, Sarah Hook, Rebecca Gilmore, Evan Gilmore, Justin Gilmore, Jason Gilmore and Noah Gilmore. She had been blessed with two great grandchildren, Tyler and Kaitlyn Brandt. Marion was able to see her granddaughter Heidi marry Patrick Brandt.

After graduating high school, Marion worked in an office for Manhattan Rubber Company. She married Walter Gilmore on February 4, 1955 and in 1957 they started their own family. Marion stayed home so she could care and nurture her children. Together her and Walt guided the upbringing of their 3 children to adulthood.

Marion was a long time faithful member of Ponds Reformed Church in Oakland, NJ. She was an active member of the church including the Woman's Circle Group for many years. As a member of the church she was very dedicated and dependable. Both Marion and Walt participated in Mission Trips sponsored by Ponds Church. They travelled to Kentucky and Louisiana helping rebuild and repair homes from the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. They also went to Honduras to help those less fortunate.

In the summer months, Marion's passion was gardening and all year round she loved decorating her home for the different seasons and holidays that were upon us. Marion had a special love for the Abrams family farmhouse located at Westcolang Lake in Pennsylvania. She spent a significant portion of her life there enjoying the company of family members and relatives while building fond memories which she cherished throughout her lifetime. Marion enjoyed spending time renovating and restoring the farmhouse which was her favorite place to be. She will be forever loved and never forgotten by those who were touched by her life.
