Kim Kunzler Tomeo

Kim Kunzler Tomeo, 64, passed away peacefully at home in Oakland, NJ on April 13, 2026, after a long but courageous battle with autoimmune interstitial lung disease.

Kim was born on July 2, 1961, to Lois and John Eugene Kunzler and was the youngest of four daughters. She was a country girl; she grew up on a sprawling farm in Port Murray, New Jersey, and graduated from West Morris Central High School.

After marrying, Kim welcomed her son Stephen and daughter Sara, who were her pride and joy. When she wasn't working, she spent any and all of her free time with her grandchildren. She could often be found on a weeknight or any free moment driving to see her grandchildren after work just to help with their bath and bedtime routines, take them to the park, out for ice cream, or spoil them with endless gifts.

For the past 15 years, Kim worked as an ophthalmic assistant at Northern New Jersey Eye Institute, where she always made her colleagues laugh and was known for keeping things light and fun.

Kim will be remembered by all for her sharp wit and sense of humor, her love of spoiling her six grandchildren, her top notch chocolate chip cookies, and of course her well-known aversion to punctuality.

She is survived by her son, Stefano "Stephen" Tomeo IV, and his wife, Jennifer; her daughter, Sara Tomeo DeLusant, and her husband, Steve; her grandchildren, Stefano, Mila, Jace, Shea, Nico, and Liv; her sisters Carol, Marilyn and Bonnie; her devoted partner, Dave; and her five loving nieces and nephews.

She leaves behind a family who will miss her deeply and carry her humor and spirit with them always.
