Joseph J. Perz, of Oakland, New Jersey, passed away on September 28, 2025, in Oakland.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, October 6th at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Oakland, New Jersey.

Joseph was born on April 9, 1933, in Manhattan, New York, to Joseph and Mary Perz. He dedicated his career to working as an electrical engineer, but his greatest role in life was being a devoted grandfather. Affectionately known as "Grandpa Joe," he was cherished by all who knew him.

In his spare time, Joseph nurtured a deep passion for reading with a particular interest in military history—a subject he explored through his extensive personal library. He was an avid observer of nature and animal lover, Joseph found peace in watching the birds and wildlife that visited his backyard. He was a true handyman — known for owning the right tool for every job and believed by many to be able to fix just about anything.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Margaret, his children Joseph and his wife Jenee, Karen, and John, and his treasured grandchildren Nicole and her husband Alex, Christopher, and Amanda.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by family and friends.
