GABRIEL, John J., 8l, of Pompton Lakes died on August 30, 2016. He was born in West New York to Marion and John Gabriel. John graduated from Memorial High School and attended Stevens Institute of Technology. Before retiring, John worked as an inspector and was a member of Teamsters Local 64l. He also owned and operated a restaurant and a deli. He was an avid sports enthusiast a happy and outgoing person, John loved the Lord and was loved by all that met him. He will be remembered for his comedy, strength and warmth. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Arlene, his son Wayne and daughter-in-law Cheryl, and his son Benjamin. He was passionate and extremely protective of his four grandchildren, Anthony, Brendan, Morgan and four-year-old Riley, with whom he enjoyed playing cards, coloring and swimming. Always loved... Never forgotten... Forever missed. Visitation at Oakland Memorial Home, 330 Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland, NJ on Friday September 2, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral Service will be held at 8:30 PM. Entombment will be on Saturday leaving from the funeral home at 10 AM to the Holy Cross Mausoleum North Arlington, NJ. Please no flowers.
