Obituary

Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John J. Frapaul Jr., 91, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. Born to the late John J. Frapaul and Anna (Bauer) Frapaul, John was a longtime resident of Oakland, NJ. He graduated from Lodi High School and honorably served in the U.S. Military during the Vietnam War, stationed in Greenland.

From his early high school days, John shared a lifelong love with Rose Marie (DiMiceli) Frapaul, his beloved wife of over 50 years. Their marriage was a beautiful partnership filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion until Rose Marie's passing in 2014.

John had a deep passion for music. A gifted musician, he played the accordion, piano, keyboard, and guitar, often sharing his talents with the Oakland Seniors Club, where he brought joy to many through his music. He also found great peace in nature, especially during fishing trips to Canada—his favorites being those shared with his grandsons, Tyler and Nicholas. A longtime member of the 30 Rod and Gun Club and the Oakland Rod and Gun Club, John cherished the camaraderie and memories made through years of fishing and hunting with friends and family.

He proudly served as a member of the Oakland Knights of Columbus and spent much of his career working in machine shops, particularly at LEEM, where he was fascinated by the intricacies of building and engineering.

One of John and Rose Marie's greatest joys was restoring old bicycles. John collected and lovingly repaired hundreds of old bikes, donating them to the church for children and adults in need. It was a labor of love that brought smiles to countless faces and immense joy to John's heart.

Above all, John was a family man. He and Rose Marie found their greatest happiness in the company of their children and grandchildren. Whether attending sports games, dance recitals, concerts, or theater performances, they never missed a chance to proudly say, "That's my grandchild!"

John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rose Marie. He is survived by his brother, Pete Frapaul; his son John and daughter-in-law Claire, with grandchildren Nicholas, Kaylee, and Madison; and his daughter Patricia Weinrich and son-in-law Glenn, with grandchildren Tyler and Cortnee. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered as "Pop," a loving and proud patriarch.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Monday, June 16th, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Oakland Memorial Home, 330 Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland, NJ. Interment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery, 980 Huron Road, Franklin Lakes, NJ.
