Thys, Irene 87, of Oakland, NJ died Saturday, Dec.8, at age 87. Born and raised in NY, she married husband Bill on Dec.5, 1948 in Brooklyn NY. In 1953 they moved to Oakland, NJ to continue raising their family. She was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth RC Church in Wyckoff until the creation of Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish in 1960. Although predeceased by her husband in Jan.4, 1970, her proudest achievement was her family, by whom she will be sorely missed. She is survived by son Bill and wife Peggy of Elmwood Park, NJ, daughter Christine and husband Steve, sons Mickey and his wife Maria, of Ringwood, NJ, Danny and his wife Linda of Waldwick, NJ and Kevin, of Manteca, CA., She will also be missed by grandchildren Melissa and husband Chris, Tim, Amanda and Danielle, and great grandchildren, Warren, Billy and Ayden. Viewing will be at the Oakland Memorial Home , 330 Ramapo Valley Road, Oakland, NJ, on Tuesday evening, Dec. 11, from 7 to 9 PM. Memorial mass will be at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 117 Franklin Ave., Oakland, NJ, on Wednesday morning, Dec. 12, at 9:30 AM, followed by graveside services at Maryrest Cemetery, 770 Darlington Ave., Mahwah, NJ.
