Daniel Francis Fitzgerald (Danny) 76 , of Hillsdale, NJ , passed away on June 11, 2025 in Wayne, NJ.  Before recently moving to Hillsdale, he lived with his wife in Great Meadows, NJ for 32 years.

Visitation will be held at Oakland Memorial Home on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 between the hours of 3PM and 7PM with a service being held at 6:30PM.

Danny was born in New York to Eileen Cunningham and Laurence Fitzgerald on December 9, 1948. He went to high school at Northern Valley High School in Demarest.  He served in Germany for the US Army from 1968-1970.  After returning home, he worked as a truck driver and then later became a Technical Manager for Sears, Roebuck and Co and received multiple awards for Best Team Performance and his outstanding relationship with his 'guys'. He was a hard worker and showed up every day.  He also worked as a landscaper on the side and was an artist when it came to landscaping his own home in Great Meadows. He loved his family, fishing, being outdoors, listening and singing to the Oldies, camping, vacations on the lake, and his many dogs over the years. Danny was a huge Rocky Balboa fan and resembled him in his younger years.  He also had the sweetest personality and his smile lit up a room, not to mention a pretty funny guy and always came up with something that would just make you burst out laughing.  He will be forever missed.

Danny is survived by his wife, Janet Fitzgerald, stepdaughters Sharon and Louise, daughter-in-law Denise, grandsons Ryan and Matthew, brothers Larry, John and (Marilyn), Tommy and ( Lynnette).  He is preceded in death by his parents Laurence Fitzgerald, Eileen Fitzgerald, stepmother Helen Fitzgerald, sister-in-law Joanie Fitzgerald and stepson Ron Clark.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge, Inc. in Oakland, NJ.
