Cynthia M Saracco

Cynthia Marie Saracco (née Tanski), of Oakland, New Jersey, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones on Saturday April 25, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 79 years old.

Cynthia grew up in West Paterson, New Jersey. She graduated from St. Bonaventure's in 1964 and later attended Seton Hall University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Education. She furthered her studies at William Paterson College where she received a Master's degree in Special Education.

Cynthia dedicated her life to teaching. She spent her entire career at Memorial School in West Paterson where, for over 40 years, she taught both 6th Grade and Special Education. One of her greatest accomplishments was being named "Teacher of the Year" in 1993. She loved being in the classroom and treated her students like family.

Outside of the classroom, Cynthia was devoted to her family. She loved cheering on her son and daughter, traveling with her husband and spoiling her adoring grandchildren. In her spare time she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, baking, and hosting family for holiday dinners. She was known for her chocolate chip cookies and chicken cutlets. Her devotion to family and tradition will live in our hearts forever.

Cynthia was a long-time Oakland resident - she and her husband purchased their dream home in 1977 and never moved. She was also an active parishioner at Most Blessed Sacrament Church in Franklin Lakes where she volunteered in the office and with the Lenten program.

She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth (m. Anthony Glacken), her son Brian, her grandchildren Aidan and Eilish (Glacken), her sister Alice Walz, her brother Anthony "Keith" Tanski, as well as nieces and nephews.

She is now resting in eternal peace with her husband of 52 years - Allan Saracco.
