Bender, Conrad Charles III of West Milford, NJ Beloved Husband, Father, Cousin, Friend and Brother Mason, Conrad Charles Bender III passed from this life January 27th, 2013, unexpectedly after a mighty struggle to overcome his afflictions. He had a strong heart, generous spirit, forgiving nature, love of history and music, pride and love for his wife and family and they for him. Mourning his loss are his wife, Debra, children Katie and Conrad, In-laws Elizabeth Gemind and James Gemind both of Florida, his extended family, friends, and Brother Masons. He touched many lives. He loved his church family, Messiah Lutheran in Oakland. He loved his Revolutionary War reenacting family, especially the 42nd Royal Highland Regiment, General's Company. He loved meeting Brother Masons in good fellowship at Genesis Lodge #88 in Pompton Lakes. He loved watching his children perform in the West Milford High School Highlander Band. Musically talented, Conrad played the accordion, piano, organ and the bagpipes. He had a fine German tenor voice and loved most things Scottish including the pipes and its traditions. A tool and die maker, like his father, he loved precision in craftsmanship, pride in work and wicked good humor. He was incredibly proud of his children, their accomplishments and intelligence, but he was most proud of their loving hearts and empathy towards others. Paraphrasing the words of Robert Burns' "A Man's A Man For A' That," Conrad was and is a good and great man… Funeral Services will Be held Saturday February 2, 2013 11 AM at the Oakland Memorial Home 330 Ramapo Valley Road (Rt 202) Oakland, NJ Relatives and friends may visit on Friday February 1, 2013 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
