It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Arlene B. Novak (née Tuschman), on August 14th, 2025, at the age of 84. Arlene was born on March 2, 1941, to Fair Lawn Police Captain Arthur J. Tuschman, Jr., and Ruth M. (née Berdan). In 1965 she married Michael H. Novak (1924–2010) and they moved to Oakland, NJ, where they raised three children. A graduate of the Paterson General Hospital School of Nursing, she worked at Paterson General and, later, at Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff.

Arlene was dedicated to her faith, her children, her career, and caring for all of God's creatures. She is survived by her children, Pamela A. (née Novak) and husband Donald H. deVeer, Michelle D., and Michael H. Novak and wife Amanda; and grandchildren, Caroline (née deVeer) and husband Thomas Ito, Elizabeth deVeer, Holden Novak, Allison Novak, and Wyatt Kirchner,.

A viewing to celebrate Arlene's life will be held on Wednesday, August 27th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Oakland Memorial Home in Oakland, New Jersey. She will be interred at the Ponds Cemetery in Oakland.
