Obituary of John Wright Nemeth

John Wright Nemeth Born in Margaret Hague Hospital in Jersey City, NJ on November 23, 1936 to Tecla and John Nemeth. Lived in Weehawken, Hoboken, West New York, Englewood, and Cliffside, attending 3 different high schools including Memorial High School in West New York for freshman and sophomore years and then graduated from Dwight Morrow in Englewood. After graduation, he joint the army and spent 2 years in Germany in the 9th Division, 47th Infantry Regimen, Intelligence and Reconnaissance, and received an honorable discharge with the rank of corporal in October 1956. He enrolled at Farleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck as a pre-med student. While attending Farleigh, he met his future wife Heather MacIlveen. They were married on June 25, 1961. After graduating in three years, he continued his studies at Farleigh Dickinson Dental School and graduated with honors in 1964. He served as class president during the 3rd and 4th years of dental school. After dental school he completed a dental internship at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, worked briefly in Montclair and then opened a dental practice in Ringwood, where he practiced for almost 30 years. John and Heather bought a house in Cupsaw Lake in 1966. In Ringwood he served as the President of the Board of Health, and served on the Lakeland Board of Education. He was actively involved in the How-To Project as well. He coached little league baseball for many years for the White Sox. He ran the New York City Marathon 4 times, and was also a metal sculpture award winner. In August 1984, he received his Fellowship of General Dentistry and went to San Francisco for his induction. He retired from dentistry in 1992 and went back to school to obtain his certified financial planner degree and for the last 21 years has been practicing as a general financial planner for select clients. He is survived by his wife Heather; daughters and sons in law Tara and Ben Pacy, Tania and Edward Martin, and Tammy and Chris Meakem; and grandchildren Elizabeth and Nicholas Pacy, Daniel, Gregory and Scott Martin, and Alexandra, Camaryn, and Justin Meakem ; sisters Arlene Nemeth and Thekla Nemeth ; niece Arlana Woods and nephew Matthew Guimes; and cousins Blanche Tornichia, Brenda Tucillo, Maria Isaac, Stephen Furlin and David Furlin.For the past four years John has been treated for active chronic lymphocytic leukemlieu of flowers, a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society would be appreciated.
