Obituary of Doris A. Lane

Please share a memory of Doris to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lane, Doris (Tarpey) passed away peacefully Monday January 12 surrounded by her daughters. Born in Brooklyn on May 28, 1938, Doris grew up on Delmar Avenue in Glen Rock, the same house in which she later raised her 3 daughters. A graduate of Ridgewood high school, Doris attended the Berkeley Secretarial School and could type and scrawl Gregg Shorthand like no other. She worked for many years in the offices of Drs. Kass and Steinberg in Ramsey, and later for Western Union. Her last 10 years before retirement were spent working for David Bolger where her good humor greeted everyone who entered. Every aspect of Doris' life included musical accompaniment. Sunday afternoons (after church and VanDyk's ice cream) meant a stack of Broadway albums on the turntable, and they are etched in her daughters' memories to this day. More recently, Doris lived in Mahwah and was a parishioner at The Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River where she had been a member of the Adult and the Resurrection choirs. Family gatherings meant everything to Doris. She is survived by and (passes the torch to) her three daughters and their husbands, Laurie and Russ Kamp of Midland Park, and Beth and Mike Evans and Kate and Mark Balsamo, all of Oakland. She also leaves behind the Apples of her Eye, her ten grandchildren: Ryan (Kelly), Kristen (Pierce Pahlow), Connor, Kelsey and Mackenzie Kamp, Kyle and Christopher Evans, and Dylan, Brendan and Michaela Balsamo. Doris was always the Life of the Party, and her personality filled every corner of the room. She touched the lives of many and will be missed by all. Funeral Liturgy 10AM Saturday January 17, 2015 at the Church of the Presentation 271 W. Saddle River Road Saddle River, NJ. Followed by a private cremation. Friends and family my visit the Oakland Memorial Home 330 Ramapo Valley Road Oakland, NJ on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
